What is considered a dental emergency?
Our team has compiled a list of dental emergencies, however, your dental concern is not limited to this list. If you have a serious concern, remember to call our team right away.
- A severe or sudden toothache
- A chipped or fractured tooth
- Lost (fallen out) tooth
- Broken orthodontics
- Excessive bleeding or pain after a dental treatment or extraction
If you are currently experiencing a dental emergency outside of hours, present yourself to the Emergency Room.
What do I do if I lose a tooth as an adult?
Our team have put together a little list of informative instructions on how to care for a lost tooth if you are ever in this (unfortunate) situation.
- If possible, recover the knocked-out tooth and refrain from handling the root of the tooth. This will help avoid any additional damage to the tooth.
- Rinse the recovered tooth with water or milk but do not scrub or excessively wipe the tooth.
- Until you visit a dental practice, you can try reinserting the tooth where it was previously placed to try to maintain its form and condition. If successful, don’t bite down harshly.
- If you cannot successfully temporarily reinsert the tooth into the socket, try to safely maintain it until you make it to a dental practice.
